Are Federal employees paying too much for FEGLI option B - Additional Life Insurance?
FEGLI rates increase every 5 years. What may seem inexpensive
today may be unaffordable when you need it most.
Save up to 75% with our Alternative to FEGLI and
Option B Our premiums are guaranteed not to increase for 10, 20 or
30 years!
The Problem
Cost of coverage continually increases until age 65, then the
coverage basically goes away. Basic Life can be maintained, but at a
high cost.
The Solution
Many Federal Employees have found much better deals by shopping
for private company term policies. Private companies only insure
those who can pass the initial exam. This saves healthy people from
paying higher cost for unhealthy people.
Private companies insure in blocks of time. You can purchase 5
year, 10 year, 15 year, 20 year, or 30-year level premium term life insurance policies. In many cases
a 20-year term may initially cost less than the current cost of the
5-year governments FEGLI. This can save thousands of dollars after a
10 or 20 year period. Private policies usually have conversion
rights to insure coverage can continue much later in life than FEGLI
at age 65.
